It is usually the case that with your first pregnancy, you go out and buy yourself a whole new, expensive maternity wardrobe. You just can’t help yourself! With subsequent pregnancies, the trend shifts quite quickly towards borrowing. The same would apply with babies – the firstborn gets a brand new Bugaboo, bright Whoozit toys and the whole collection of Dr. Seuss books. The second baby usually gets hand- me-downs. And, by the time the third baby comes along, he or she is lucky to even have any toys of their own. Of course this all makes sense in theory. You learn from your mistakes and you don’t want to spend huge amounts of money each time you have another baby. Children are expensive enough.
That being said, I recently saw a friend who was convinced she didn’t need any new maternity clothes as she had borrowed a whole lot and was determined not to buy anything new. She ended up buying a few pieces from Bundle-O-Joy and instantly she felt uplifted. It wasn’t just that she received new items that made her feel great; it was that her Bundle-O-Joy package gave her clothing that was right for her. She told me that not only did she find her Bundle-O-Joy clothing extremely flattering, but she also felt stylish AND great about her body.
Pregnancy is a wonderful, exciting time, but it can also be difficult, exhausting and uncomfortable. Your body is not your own, and that can make you feel unattractive and unstylish. My feeling is that you should do things that make you feel good. Buy some new clothes. Buy some accessories. Have a luxurious spa treatment. Get your hair done. Treat yourself – you and the baby are worth it!
